Visualization facilitates the UK’s first Unilumin UTV-SC 108” All-in-One LED Display installation at Granta Park

December 16, 2024

Combining advanced chip-on-board (COB) technology with sustainability, the first Unilumin UTV-SC 108" All-in-One LED display in the UK has been successfully installed at One Granta Park, Cambridge.

With its extended lifespan, energy efficiency, and high-performance capabilities, the display demonstrates the growing shift towards environmentally conscious AV solutions. This milestone project was delivered through the collaboration of Absolute AVS, Display Graphics and Visualization, ensuring a high-impact digital signage solution tailored to the client’s needs.

The Estate Team operated by Bidwells, on behalf of building owner BioMed Realty, approached Absolute AVS to specify a display system for the Atrium at their newest building, One Granta. The brief demanded a solution that could balance sustainability, budget considerations, and performance, particularly for a high-level installation with space limitations. The Unilumin UTV-SC 108" LED display was chosen for its impressive longevity; twice that of traditional LCD displays, and energy-efficient operation, making it an ideal fit for the high ambient light environment.

Dave Archer, Senior Project Manager at Absolute AVS, part of the APG Group, commented “The Unilumin UTV-SC stood out as the clear choice, offering both exceptional performance and a lower environmental footprint. Its longer lifespan reduces the need for frequent replacements, aligning with the client’s sustainability goals. Working with Visualization ensured we had the expertise and support to make the best recommendation for our client.”

To complement the display, Absolute AVS engaged Display Graphics to design and install a bespoke surround, ensuring the solution was both functional and visually seamless. The sleek black felt panels, featuring magnetic tabs for easy maintenance access, were precision-crafted off-site and installed ahead of the display placement, overcoming logistical challenges posed by the Atrium’s layout.

Dave Cowan, Commercial Director at Display Graphics and Sales & Installations for Absolute AVS, subsidiaries of the APG Group highlighted the collective approach commenting: “This project showcases the power of collaboration, by combining Absolute AVS’s technical expertise with our custom design capabilities, we delivered a solution that exceeded expectations in both functionality and aesthetics.”

Chris Brittan, Business Development Director at Visualization, added: “We’re proud to have facilitated the UK’s first installation of the Unilumin UTV-SC. Absolute AVS’s ability to adapt to client requirements and focus on delivering the best outcome for the project was outstanding.”

The impressive 108" size of the Unilumin UTV-SC, combined with its modular design, proved to be the ideal solution for the high-level installation, offering both visual impact and flexibility in a challenging environment. This project demonstrates a commitment to impactful and sustainable AV solutions in the UK.
